Cypress Essential Oil

Extracted from the needles and twigs of the Cypress tree, Cupressus sempervirens, this evergreen tree possesses a powerful oil that has been valued for its ability to fight infections, relieve anxiety, and remove toxins from the body. In the past, Cypress was associated with death. The strong and durable wood had been used to make coffins while the oil was mostly used in perfumery and the embalming process of the ancient Egyptians. Today, we fully understand the vast capabilities of the Cypress tree and how it can be incorporated into our daily lives to support our mind, body & spirit. The clean, fresh scent of Cypress is commonly used in aromatherapy and in the home to freshen up linens, boost laundry detergent, and when diffused, create a calm, serene and relaxing environment. Its astringent properties also work to fight bacteria in the air and on surfaces throughout the home. While you can use this antiseptic oil on your surfaces, it is also safe to use on the skin and body as well. When diluted or mixed with a carrier oil, Cypress can diminish bacteria on the skin. Making this oil an excellent choice for treating cuts, scrapes and abrasions as well as acne, pustules and skin eruptions. The uses of Cypress Essential Oil on the body and within the home are bountiful, but the effect it can have on the psyche is quite impressive as well. With its sedative effects, Cypress is known to induce calm feelings within the mind while simultaneously energizing the body and stimulating feelings of happiness and well-being. 

Relax and unwind- Diffuse 4-5 drops of Cypress Essential oil in the home or office to stimulate and awaken the senses while also inducing a calm and relaxed state of mind.

Tighten skin and muscles- Cypress Essential Oil may help to strengthen the gums, skin, and muscles due to its astringent abilities that are associated with contraction. Making this an excellent oil to reduce the appearance of cellulite or varicose veins. 

DIY vapor rub- Dilute Cypress Essential Oil with a carrier oil and rub over the chest to create an all-natural and nontoxic vapor rub that aids breathing during times of congestion.  

Deodorize and cleanse the home- Add 5-10 drops of Cypress oil to cleaning products, laundry detergent, or room spray to cleanse and deodorize the home. 

Enhance skincare- Adding Cypress Essential oil to your facial washes, serums, or creams can help fight bacteria on the skin, leading to a smoother, clearer, more radiant complexion.
