Tarragon Essential Oil

Tarragon is a bushy perennial that belongs to the Asteraceae family. With highly branched stems and leaves, this fragrant herb is native to Central Asia. In medieval times, it was believed that Tarragon’s root looked like a dragon. Therefore, it was thought to be effective against snake bites and gave birth to many names for the herbincluding dragonne, herbs à dragon or serpentine. It was also thought to be a powerful digestive tonic. Both spicy and sweet, the aroma of Tarragon Essential Oil can be described as a pleasant combination of anise and basil. It is still widely used for digestive wellness today and is one of the main herbs used in French cooking for its aromatic compounds and ability to stimulate appetite. Tarragon essential oil has been studied and shown to actually reduce pain-related symptoms in those suffering from rheumatism and arthritis. This pain is due to improper circulation of the blood and the accumulation of toxins. Tarragon helps to improve circulation in the body and stimulates your body's natural detoxification process to remove toxins from affected areas.

  • Stimulate appetite- Tarragon essential oil stimulates the digestive juices in the stomach, which leads to increased appetite. This could be beneficial for those experiencing side effects from medication that decreases the appetite.
  • Improve digestion- It’s been known throughout history that Tarragon has a positive effect on the digestive system. Apply 2 drops into a carrier oil and topically apply to the abdomen for better digestion and less bloating. *Tarragon can be toxic when taken internally. Keep away from young children.
  • Relieve stress- Tarragon Essential Oil also has benefits for our mental health. Apply 2-3 drops into a diffuser and feel the calming and uplifting effects.
  • Deeply cleansing- With antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, Tarragon Essential Oil can be added to your natural homemade body care or home cleaning products.
  • Eliminate bad odor- The spicy smell of Tarragon can inhibit the growth of microbes on the skin and keep unwanted body odor at bay. Add 1-2 drops to a carrier oil, all-natural deodorant, or body spray to maintain a fresh fragrance all day long.
